Though this is my first official blog, it is not my first time writing and speaking from the heart. As Senior Copy Editor and contributing staff writer of my college’s newspaper the Meramec Montage (www.meramecmontage.com), I have been writing editorials, reviews and assorted pieces for more than a year now. I love being involved with a program and people who have vastly different views than me but are absolutely unafraid of speaking their mind.
In the past, my most passionate pieces have been about politics, politicians and policies, but this vein is running dry and is beginning to feel like a detractor from ‘the real point.’ I haven’t nailed down my place in history, yet, but I am sure there is a higher purpose for me beyond critiquing those in power.
So what is the ’real point?’ For years I have been seeking tangible evidence of God, of religion, of…something. That pursuit of the divine is the basis for this blog. I am not, nor will I ever claim to be a religious scholar. I am far from perfect, and even farther from unblemished, but I am certain I am not unique.
Many people, every day spend their waking hours wishing and praying for a chance to connect with something real. Real religion is hard to find, though, in this day of ‘anything goes’. So, I decided some of my journey with you. From the confusion of deciding whether or not I even cared about godly things, to daily living in a religion; from being a single mother, to falling for a friend, there will be something for every one here.
I hope you like it. I hope it inspires you to seek, and think, and smile.
